Wei De and I got baptized last week on Good Friday. It was an apprehensive week, but I guess God straightened things out after all.
I joined Heart of God Church last Christmas for their Christmas service. I don’t know how it begun, but I remember telling Wei De I’m in a search for a church to settle down. To know God on a more intimate level. It wasn’t an active search then but God didn’t give up on me. I found a place of worship after a decade.
During baptism class held two weeks ago, I noticed that majority of the baptism candidates were from their own families. If there was any tugging of the heart, I felt it during that juncture. I wished my entire family was with me.
But I’m glad that they came and supported me after all, together with a bunch of great friends — people who matter to me, people who place their attention on me. And I’m grateful to have Wei De getting baptized on the same day as I was. Even till today, I’m still basking in the happiness that I have received on that day, and to see my family and friends smiling is priceless — moment which I wish I had a camera in my hands.
I’m glad that I have friends who took a leap of faith to venture into an environment — which they were totally clueless — with a simple objective of rendering their support to Wei De and I. Many thanks to everyone who turned up: Perry, Cherlyn, Hui Jun, Craig, Anh and Cowen. It’s a blessing to have known you and to have lived together.
