Life on steroids

I wish I was feigning death for the past few days, which justifies the lack of entries on this blog. It’s unlikely that my everyday life is uneventful, but penning down thoughts aren’t as easy as I thought two years ago when I started this out. I feel that I’m driving a life which is on steroids now, because everything is going at a hyper hype pace.

Currently, apart from an essay that’s requires a lot of reading, I have to devote a massive amount of time figuring how to model (and animate) a pet mouse and a gigantic grandfather’s clock for the Interactive Media project.

Intertwined with XP and Vista

And you thought reformatting the Sony VAIO was a laborious task, not until reformatting your hard drive as a dual boot PC with Windows Vista and XP become your favourite pastime. I had the luxurious opportunity to experience it since yesterday, when one of my lab exercises couldn’t run as expected on the Vista machine. At the same time, I have grown so attached to the wows and hyper hype of Vista that I just couldn’t let it go; if only every operating system in the market is as elegant as Apple’s Leopard.

So I spent the previous night trying all sorts of combinations and partitioning software and the entire experience ended off with me wasted on my bed with a very expensive machine that couldn’t boot up correctly into either of the Microsoft’s acclaimed operating system of uselessness. If I had the kind of spending power, I would have all my desktops running Mac Pros, but alright, I am waking up on this.

In the end, I missed Eugene Ho’s farewell gathering at the airport because I had to rush the installation and get to work by tomorrow, if not, I’ll be badly behind time.

To make matters worse, lecturers who are supposed to make installations and dissemination of information painless did a poor job by appearing dumb to students’ requests.

Dan’s Den

The Chinese New Year spiced up a little when the monkeys gathered around at Dan’s crib last Saturday. When I reached, the game (gambling) had long started. I wasn’t an avid fan of Black Jacks, but was eventually lured into chipping in some of my cash when they up the stakes to Texas Hold ‘em.

Right, first thing I stepped into the house, I was greeted by two lovely sweetie pies, of which I had cleanly forgotten to snap pictures of them. Daniel has two pembroke weish corgis, think sausages and huskies: Chubby and Jingle. I know little about dogs and I would love to have one of them. Sadly though, my mum isn’t keen on the idea of having pets in the house. Perhaps I could consider when I get my own place then.

The amazing about Daniel and his dogs is that unlike my neighbours’ whose place is not different from selling salted fish, his place did not reek any smell of the canines, not at all.

For the lower risk takers, Sirong brought along his new Monopoly set. He acquired the new London edition recently, just shortly after Christmas. The game got popular again when we went back for our vacation attachments and needed something to spend our time. Sirong’s set includes debit cards and a card reader, totally eliminating the need for handling cash. Sleek eh? Even games hopped on the cashless bandwagon.

The downside was that the game progressed so fast that we were quickly worn out after a few rounds.

Joined the gang for Hold ‘em after dinner at the newly refurbished White Sands and paying taxes to the den. I took pictures of them playing.
