And so, the barbecue went well after all, but not without numerous obstacles. You probably figured out that rain is one of them, and the sickening weather’s the most galling factor. We experienced the first bout of sky juice at 4pm when Shao Xiang and I were still hunting for the mysterious satay factory (will get to that later). It wasn’t encouraging to learn that an entire patch of gloomy clouds were heading for the coast, right where our event was held. It rained. And it shined. Not that I abhor the cooling effect that God had kindly created to grace the evening, but the glacial pace that the rain was travelling at just irked me. Still, I thank God for His divine intervention, stopping the rain at 6pm, just in time to get the fire going.

Speaking of picking the satay up, I mistook one of the buildings in Bedok Industrial Park for the other. The folly costs us about half an hour searching for a unit that does not exist.

Other than the rain and the mindless search, the event was a fruitful one. When we got our barbecue items from BBQ Wholesale, I casted doubts on the effectiveness of the charcoal we purchased. It took eons to light up and glow the way we wanted, but eventually, all of us were proven wrong when we still have a half a box unused.
