On the other hand, I managed to meet up with the poly gang. Though not everyone made it too, we had a quick gathering and everyone else made the effort to turn up. I’m struggling not to make comparisons with people around me or to set any benchmark on expectations; when people behave in such an evident manner that they don’t seem to take interest in maintaining a relationship, I don’t see why I should reciprocate in any similar way.

Kevin replied and mentioned vaguely about friends will meet up when they feel they should. But I disagree. It makes me feel as though I am persistent on a one-sided affair struggling to mend a broken relationship. On a personal take, I dislike meeting up for a specific agenda. Hate getting into a sales presentation on the pretext of catching up. Hate picking up a call and having to entertain “How do you dos” when the actual intent is on “I have a product which I would like to introduce to you”.

The main purpose for a gathering is not at all a session for comparison or a time to belittle anyone not doing as well. The idea of a gathering is to catch up and know your friends who matter to you and you are concerned about their well being.

For those who laments on the lack of time to meet up and all, it’s all due to poor time management. If not, it’s simply a lack of interest. Couldn’t be bothered.

Totally agree. I have plenty of calls from my army friends with a “agenda specific” meetings.

But we all try not to be mean and just be patient with them.

    Definitely poor time management!

@xin: It may not always be from the same people. But I’m not pin pointing at at anyone else for such business making ethics. It’s just a personal opinion that if you really want to sell me something, just go ahead and ask; not beating around the bush and asking me how well am I doing. Keep those separate eh.

Well, in any case, the insurance industry sure took a toll on customer relationships. Not to forget multi-level marketers.
