I couldn’t help but tell the entire world about the attack from the winged family early this morning at an approximate time of 0530hrs. I was busy mounting the print outs for the module portfolio on the boards when I realized I needed an additional print. As time was really short, I quickly walked into my room but a sudden fluttering noise startled me. A sparrow (size of your fist and thank God not a crow) lose its ability to navigate and found its way (somehow) into my room.

I won’t describe what I did in great detail though. Rest assured I didn’t kill the bird, so hold your horses about that thought of calling the SPCA. But I did spend 30 minutes trying to shoo it away.  I opened the windows real wide but the helpless thing didn’t even try flying low. I switched off the lights a couple of times, and I think it suffered from night blindness too, I heard it struggle and got entangled in my window blinds, albeit that’s the only period of time it tried to stop flying in circles and started flying low.

After a record time of two hundred and fifty-five laps of circular flight around my room, it finally landed on the edge of my window sill, and all I did was to give it a nudge with a pole. It got its freedom and I got my peace – I finally got the chance to print what I want.

The ironic thing is, I couldn’t believe I got stuck in an exasperating situation in my own room (trying to print but couldn’t) with another bird (trying to find a way out but couldn’t as well).

The aftermath was horrible and the somniferous overnight experience with rushing work that’s due in hours didn’t help. I was presented with an early Christmas gift of miniature bird feathers as well as bird droppings all over the room. I guessed it excreted out of fear from the sudden loss of light.

Damn. More to clean.
