New home for us

Those astronomers have found a possible new home for mankind. Touted as Super Earth, this shining blue planet seems to be a new cure for any imminent Armageddon happening in our times.

But it’s 20 light years. According to the report on Straits Times today, one light year is equivalent to speed of light travelling in a year, i.e. 10 trillion kilometres. We need to sit in a shuttle that can take us 200 trillion kilometres to reach our new homes. Splendid. How much is the economical fare like?

High School Memories

I was sick of studying mindlessly for the exams so I took a break to do some random surfing. I chanced upon my secondary school website, I noticed a few significant changes. There’s a new principal. Actually, I kind of missed the principals that were previously in reign, not because I like them personally or they are especially bad, but it brings back some memories which I could better relate to. Now, I can’t even find myself ‘at home’ whenever I stepped onto the grounds of the 48 year-old institution (the school has a long history, not the building).

Anyways, I found out there’s a golf CCA (Co-Cirricular Activity)! Goodness, how many schools can have golf as a?CCA? And I thought students back then were poor; they could afford golf clubs now eh?

Teachers have moved on. I could no longer find the teacher who taught us to speak in tongues while we?were supposed to have history lessons. She was actually suspended for being so stanched about being a christian in class preaching instead of teaching. I remembered she spoke about the mark of the beast and how we should avoid it. She even named a student from another class claiming that the said student?had had?supernatural visions and?could see signs from God. Not that I?found it hard to believe, but she was selling her story like she had found?the cure for cancer or a living messenger from God. Bullshit, but very interesting indeed.

My favourite teachers have also moved on for various reasons. Amongst many of them, most people left because they want a change of environment or because they have their?homes relocated.

There are indeed?not many good educators around, but I have at least met three of them, all in the same?school.?

Pitch Darkness and Gloomy weather

I was reading Khasrul’s entry a few weeks back on how his toilet lights turned out to be faulty at the wrong hour. I remember saying something like, ‘I can’t be that suay (unlucky).

I was wrong. Thankfully it’s just pitch darkness and not at the wee hours, albeit the lightning from the dark cumulonimbus clouds are quite daunting. And being a few hundred degrees myopic is not very encouraging too.

I need lasik.
